Waiting on God’s Timing: Aligning Vision, Purpose, and Business Strategy

By Benson Agbortogo | Prophetic Strategist | Creator of the Consistent Profit Systems

We live in a culture that values speed, action, and instant results. But as Kingdom entrepreneurs, we are called to follow a different rhythm—God’s timing.

Recently, I faced a familiar challenge: waiting. I felt led by the Holy Spirit to develop something powerful—an intersection between Spiritual Intelligence (SI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Everything in me wanted to act immediately, but a quiet prompting from within urged me to pause.

What followed was a season of prayer, fasting, and realignment. And in that waiting, I learned again that waiting is not weakness—it’s spiritual strength.

“Those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles…”  — Isaiah 40:31

Had I rushed ahead, I would have birthed something immature. But through waiting, the vision matured, my motives were purified, and clarity came—not just for what to do, but how to do it God’s way.

Discern the Motive: Asking “Why?”

Receiving a divine idea is one thing. Executing it with the right heart is another.

One of the ways I check my motives is by asking a simple but profound question: Why? Then I ask again: Why that? And again, until I reach the core.

When I asked myself, “Why do I want to help people grow in spiritual intelligence?” my first response was: “Because I love God and want His people to think with His mind.” But when I asked why again, the deeper reason emerged: “Because I love people and want them to walk closely with their Father, hearing His voice and thriving.”

If your why is rooted in love—for God and for others—you're on the right path. If it’s not, pause. Reevaluate. Refine. Motive matters deeply to God.

“The Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7

Submit Your Calendar to the Holy Spirit

Each morning, I bring my daily plans before the Lord and say:

“Holy Spirit, here is my calendar. Guide my steps. Remove anything out of alignment with Your will. Let love be my motive in all I do.”

This simple habit has become a spiritual anchor. As Ephesians 3:17 says, we must be rooted and grounded in love. The Holy Spirit—the Helper Jesus promised in John 14:26—stands ready to align your schedule with Heaven’s priorities.

This daily submission ensures that my business becomes a ministry—not just a machine.

Watch for Red Flags—And Don’t Ignore Them

God doesn’t just speak through peace—He also warns through discomfort.

I remember a time when I ignored that warning. A friend offered to help one of our clients with marketing. I trusted him, but the Holy Spirit whispered, “Don’t proceed.” I reasoned it away.

That decision cost hundreds of thousands in losses and damaged a valuable client relationship.

I had to take full responsibility—and pay for the recovery. It was painful, but redemptive.

When something feels off, don’t override the signal. Stop. Pray. Listen. God’s wisdom often contradicts logic, but it never leads to regret.

Wise Counsel Is a Safety Net

The Bible says:

“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.”  — Proverbs 15:22

Whenever I face emotionally charged or high-stakes decisions, I turn to trusted voices—those who know God, know me, and are unafraid to speak the truth.

For nearly 30 years, one friend has consistently offered clarity in moments when I couldn’t see straight. In business, I also listen to my clients—they often carry insight that helps me shape better solutions.

Surround yourself with wise counsel. A godly support system is one of the greatest assets any leader can have.

When God Calls for Radical Change

Sometimes, God’s promptings will feel scary. He may lead you to cut back, pivot, or shut down something you love. But obedience always precedes breakthrough.

Think of Naaman in 2 Kings 5. The prophet Elisha told him to dip in the River Jordan seven times to be healed. Naaman resisted—it made no sense. But when he obeyed, his healing came.

God’s instructions often defy logic. But His ways are higher, and when we act in faith, miracles follow.

The Real Secret to Kingdom Business Success

Business success is not just about strategies, branding, or execution. It’s about alignment with God.

The victories I’ve experienced—especially the most unexpected breakthroughs—didn’t come through hustle. They came through prayer, submission, listening, and obeying.

God doesn’t just want your success. He wants your trust.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.”
— Psalm 127:1

Final Encouragement: Build for Eternity

Kingdom entrepreneurship is not just about revenue. It’s about legacy—building something that carries eternal value.

The storms will come. The delays will stretch you. The waiting will test your faith. But if you stay anchored in God’s Word, listen for His voice, and align your motives with His love, you will stand strong.

Your business is not just a business. It’s a partnership with God—a platform for impact, transformation, and eternal fruit.

So…

  • Wait with wisdom.
  • Ask the deeper “why.”
  • Submit your plans daily.
  • Listen to red flags.
  • Seek counsel.
  • Embrace divine detours.

And above all, build with God.

“Be bold. Be brave. And trust that as you align your vision with His will, your business will unfold in miraculous ways.”
